I need to buy a new home computer. I’m torn between purchasing a Mac mini or a regular old plain-jane Dell PC. The Dell is a decent, stable, but very boring PC running Windows XP, which I loath. Inherent with Windows is poor performance, lousy stability, and all the fun and games that comes with adware, spyware, and virii. The Mac mini is more expensive, but is very cool, runs the Mac OS X (which is based on Unix!), and comes with a whole boat-load of software. My brother is a Mac sales guy (although he won’t give me a discount) and has become a die-hard fanatic. I’ll never hear the end of it if I don’t buy a Mac. Both systems will do what I need them to do. One is cool, one is not. Is it worth the price to be cool?
